Why You Should Go

We have experienced many extraordinary trails throughout the world, including the Milford Track in New Zealand, the Laugavegur Trail in Iceland, various treks throughout Chilean Patagonia, The Himalayas in the Kingdom of Bhutan, the Inca Trail in Peru, The Dolomites, etc.

Among all of our global hiking options, we feel no country offers the scope and variety of picturesque, idyllic hikes than our beloved Switzerland. We think of Switzerland as ground zero for the most heavenly hiking settings anywhere in the world.

With some of the most breathtaking landscapes on earth, this is a hiker’s playground, giving high rewards for any difficulty. From crystal-clear lakes to verdant valleys, there are various hiking paths to explore. When you are not hiking, take the time to explore some of the most iconic sights to see, such as the winelands surrounding Geneva, the “Top of Europe” experience at the Jungfraujoch Mountain, and the highest suspension bridge in Europe at Mt. Titlis. When you’ve completed your hiking, your high-end accommodations will provide a blissful retreat to recuperate, including state-of-the-art spas and unparalleled charming Swiss hospitality.

We have included our favorite Swiss luxury properties, including Hotel Beau-Rivage, Victoria-Jungfrau Grand Hotel & Spa, Romantik Hotel Schweizerhof, Grand Hotel National Luzern, and Park Hotel Vitznau.

There is no better way to explore this magical land than by foot, one beautiful step at a time.

Day 3

Full-Day Private Excursion to the Lavaux Vineyard Region
A UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Lavaux Vineyard Terraces stretch 18 miles along the shores of Lake Geneva from Chateau de Chillon to Lausanne.  There are 23 hiking paths to choose from, some of which are close to the lake, though we particularly like the high panoramic trails reaching picturesque villages such as Saint-Saphorin and Dézaley. These medieval towns feature narrow alleys and winegrowers’ houses dating from the 16th to 19th-centuries. Here you may visit pubs and cellars, sampling some of the region’s classic wines. The wines produced here are very light; pleasant to drink with food or on their own. If interested, instead of hiking, we can arrange a visit to a winery where you can visit the vineyards and learn of wine making traditions with a paired lunch tasting.

Various Regional Hiking around Interlaken
Over the next two days, enjoy hiking throughout the Interlaken area to reach various charming villages, captivating mountain regions, and quaint lakes. We will suggest several hikes for you depending on your interest and activity levels.

The following hikes are our suggestions as they are some of our favorites. These hiking options offer a variety of landscapes and experiences, allowing you to explore the beauty and terrain of the Bernese Oberland.

Option 1: Lauterbrunnen to Mürren via Grütschalp
Begin your hike in the picturesque valley of Lauterbrunnen. Hike up to Grütschalp and enjoy panoramic views of the valley below. Continue hiking to Mürren, a charming, car-free village perched on a cliff overlooking the valley. Explore Mürren and its surrounding trails before returning to Lauterbrunnen by cable car or hiking trail.

Option 2: Wengen to Kleine Scheidegg via Mannlichen
Start your hike in the idyllic village of Wengen. Hike up to Mannlichen, offering a stunning view of the Lauterbrunnen Valley and the surrounding peaks. Continue your hike to Kleine Scheidegg, passing through alpine meadows and rocky terrain. Enjoy lunch at a mountain hut or restaurant before descending the peak back to Wengen. You may also opt to take a train to the starting point.

Option 3: Schynige Platte Panorama Trail
Take the nostalgic cogwheel train from Wilderswil to Schynige Platte. Embark on the Schynige Platte Panorama Trail, a loop trail with panoramic views of the Jungfrau region. Hike through alpine meadows adorned with wildflowers and enjoy views of the Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau mountains. Return to Schynige Platte and descend back to Wilderswil by cogwheel train.
