Namibia Luxury Safari

Why You Should Go

On this once in a lifetime tour of Namibia, you can expect to stray away from the busy crowds and really experience Africa off the beaten path! With an abundance of wildlife, dunes, nature, and top of the line accommodations, it is our favorite serene African experience (!). Being an excellent juxtaposition to Botswana, Namibia is home to the oldest desert on the planet, the Namib Desert.

Namib translates to “vast place” and this desert definitely lives up to the name! With such an expansive landscape with dramatic scenery, Namibia is a kaleidoscope of environments from the white saltpans of Etosha National Park, to the red dunes of Sossusvlei, and the isolated beaches of the Skeleton Coast. You will get all ends of the spectrum with adventures on 1,300 sand dunes to searching for shipwrecks along the southern region of the Atlantic Ocean, and at Namib-Naukluft National Park, gaze in awe at the 100-story Big Daddy Dune. With its less populated cities and areas, you will get an intimate experience with the local culture and truly appreciate the history and kind-hearted people who are eager to welcome you!

Similar to the relatively small Bisate Lodge in Rwanda, availability at the luxury 7-suite Hoanib Camp on the Skeleton Coast of Namibia is limited and must be requested at least one year in advance. Set in a private concession area, the stark desert landscape here us an otherworldly contrast from Zambia and Rwanda. It is truly a wonderful experience to see elephants, lions, giraffe, and hyena roaming the dunes of this arid environment. Another big plus is its relatively short distance from Namibia’s shoreline, dotted with Cape fur seal colonies! Based on the area’s limited rainfall, Hoanib Camp is a year-round destination, although the local guides feel March to May offers the most idyllic conditions for lush, game-viewing. With no Wi-Fi here, this is a place where you’re temporarily off the grid!

Named for the local giraffe, the stunning newly opened Camp Onduli is quickly becoming a favorite in Namibia! The resort homes 6 en-suites built into granite boulders (!), which help with climate control. These spacious suites are modern in style with wood and glass touches and include a star bed for nighttime gazing, partial open-air bathrooms, and air-conditioned beds. When away from your enclave, you may enjoy the infinity pool, library, or (our favorite!) atmospheric campfire circle. You will have untouched views of nearby Mountain Brandberg and the cathedral-like granite iselbergs. You are conveniently located only 20 minutes from the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Twyfelfontein, known for its ancient rock engravings, a must see! There is lots to explore during your time at Camp Onduli, including rhino and elephant tracking, e-biking, and nature drives.
